In 2015, ESN joined the initiative launched by the European University Foundation (EUF), called the Online Learning Agreement, which would develop a tool for students and universities to create and sign an e-learning agreement. In May 2017, OLA was created as a proof of concept for universities to try and support. EUF followed with another project, OLA+, which worked on adding new features to the platform, such as. B apprenticeship agreements for traineeships and the measurement of user satisfaction. As regards the mobility of students to traineeships, the apprenticeship agreement should define how the traineeship is recognised, depending on whether it is taken into account in the student`s diploma, whether it is carried out on a voluntary basis (not mandatory for the diploma) or whether it is carried out by a new graduate. For more information, see the following guidelines. The learning agreement should include all the learning outcomes that the student needs to acquire during the exchange. The Learning Agreement defines the program of studies or internships to be carried out abroad and must be approved by the student, institution or organization or company before the start of the exchanges. In a study conducted in late 2019 – early 2020, more than 90% of students said they would recommend OLA to their colleagues.
In addition, 93% of IROs believe that all learning agreements should be put online via an easy-to-use tool. In recent years, we have seen how digital learning agreements can drastically reduce the administrative burden and make it easier for students to enjoy a quality mobility experience. In the past, the complexity of red tape has led to learning agreements not always being concluded before departure, as well as problems with ECTS recognition after students return to their home countries. The OLA can be used by students participating in Erasmus+ mobility for studies or traineeships between higher education institutions holding the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE). For student mobility for studies, the learning agreement should define the group of education components that will be replaced by study abroad after completing their studies abroad. For more information, see the following guidelines. The objective of the learning agreement is to allow transparent and effective preparation of exchanges to ensure that the student is recognized for the activities carried out abroad. The learning agreement is a key document for Erasmus+ mobility. .
